Designing Shenzhen's future

The government of Shenzhen has asked the public to design an official logo for the city, Guangzhou Daily reported Friday.

The government of China's first special economic zone announced on a briefing Thursday it welcomes creativeness from around the world. The government will set up two special panels to select from the entries.

Any professional designer or organization can download entry forms from the government's official website, and have their manuscripts delivered or mailed to Shenzhen Public Art Center before April 30.

Designers of the 10 pieces of work shortlisted will be awarded 20,000 yuan ($3,050) each, while the designer winning the selection will be awarded 200,000 yuan.

Shenzhen, located in Southern Guangdong province and next to Hong Kong, became a special economic zone in 1980 at the early stage of reform and opening up, and has been growing significantly due to the economic liberalization.
