22 HK tour groups confirmed safe in quake-hit Japan

HONG KONG - The Hong Kong Special Administrative Region government announced on Friday that 22 Hong Kong tour groups have been confirmed safe in Honshu, Japan, after a 8.8-magnitude earthquake jolted the country.

About 800 more visitors from Hong Kong were believed to stay in Japan while the devastating earthquake hit the country.

No casualties of Hong Kong citizens have been reported after the quake, the government said.

The city government has also issued an red travel alert for Japan.
