China's courts handled 14,694 cases involving mergers and acquisitions, enterprise restructuring, bankruptcy, compulsory liquidation and share transfer in 2010, up 56.9 percent on the previous year, the Supreme People's Court said Friday.
The president of the Supreme People's Court Wang Shengjun said China's court also handled 578,919 cases of financing, securities, insurance and guarantees, up 11.63 percent from the previous year.
Efforts to enhance intellectual property rights protection were also echoed by 48,051 such cases, increasing 32.96 percent from a year earlier, Wang said.
Wang said 12,086 cases were filed to the Supreme People's Court in 2010, down 6.99 percent from a year earlier.
Local courts received 11,700,263 cases, up 2.82 percent year-on-year, Wang said.
