Renowned Chinese medical scientist Wu dies at 94

BEIJING - Wu Jieping, a well-known Chinese medical scientist and former leader of the Jiu San (September 3) Society, died of illness Wednesday night at the age of 94.

Wu, born in January 1917, was vice chairman of the Standing Committee of the eighth and ninth National People's Congress of China.

Wu was an expert of urological surgery and performed the first kidney transplant in China in 1960.
