The country's research institutions and personnel in this field were called on to improve their work to guide the Party members in understanding the Party's history and in building a sense of mission and pride in serving the country.

The work on Party history was very important to the Party and the state, said Xi, adding that the Party history should serve as experience and lessons for the present.

Last year, the CPC Central Committee issued its first official document on the Party history work and held a national conference on the subject.

The CPC Central Committee also approved the publication of the second volume of the Party history last year, an official version of the Party's history between 1949 and 1978.

The CPC will mark its 90th anniversary of founding in July.
