Hu attends New Year gala for military veterans

BEIJING - Chinese President Hu Jintao extended new year greetings to military veterans at a new year gala in Beijing Monday, ahead of the Chinese lunar new year, which falls on Feb 3.

Hu, also general secretary of the Communist Party of China (CPC) Central Committee and chairman of the Central Military Commission, wished the veteran army officers a happy new year and good health.

Xi Jinping, vice-president and vice-chairman of the Central Military Commission, also attended the gala, along with other senior military officials.
