 China-Arab cooperation conference to be held in north China's Tianjin

The Fourth Ministerial Conference of the China-Arab Cooperation Forum would be held in China's northern municipality of Tianjin, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said here Sunday.

Yang made the remarks at a press conference on the sidelines of the annual session of the National People's Congress, the country's top legislature.

Foreign ministers from 22 Arab countries and secretary-general of the Arab League will participate in the conference, and would meet Chinese leaders during the conference, He said.

The conference would facilitate and improve cooperation between China and Arab countries, Yang said, adding that he is confident that the friendly, cooperative, and mutually beneficial ties between both sides would be further consolidated.

China supports Afghanistan government efforts in promoting peace

China supports the efforts of the Afghanistan government in promoting peace, safety and stability, Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said here Sunday.

China is also providing all kinds of assistance to Afghanistan without any conditions attached and within its own capabilities, Yang said.

Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Sunday the prospects for China's cooperation with Latin American countries are "good."

 FM calls for abandonment of "colored spectacles" about China

Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi on Sunday called on some foreign countries to stop looking at China through "colored spectacles", expressing the hope that the world would have objective views of China.

"We hope the world will appreciate China's uniqueness and real national circumstances, and abandon their colored spectacles, or stereotyped perception about China, particularly psychological bias against China," Yang said.

"I like oil paintings and Chinese traditional paintings. But if one tries to appreciate the Chinese painting with the criteria of oil painting, there may be a mistake here," he said.

Yang noted although China has scored great achievement in social and economic development, it is still a developing country with a big population and weak economic foundation and uneven development.

"There is still a long way to go to achieve modernization," he said.

China says enhanced BRIC cooperation beneficial to world

Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi said Sunday that enhanced cooperation among Brazil, Russia, India and China, or the BRIC countries, is beneficial to the world.

He said it is true that the countries each have their own features, but they are at a similar stage of development and level of economy, and they have close positions on a series of international issues.

"In the face of increasing global challenges, the BRIC countries have enhanced cooperation among them and with other countries in an active, pragmatic, open and transparent manner," he told a press conference on the sidelines of the annual session of the National People's Congress (NPC), the country's top legislature.

"I believe that is in the interest of the world," Yang said. "We wish the second BRIC summit to be held in Brazil this April a full success."
