The Chinese central government will not only make the "pie" of social wealth bigger by developing the economy, but will also distribute it better on the basis of a rational income distribution system, according to a government work report delivered Friday at the opening meeting of the annual full session of the National People's Congress, the country's top legislature.

China will push to steadily increase the ratio of income distribution in its national wealth and perfect the compensation system of state-own enterprises and financial institutions, especially the bonuses for top executives, said the report.

The reform aims to contain the widening income gap that threatens to rile public discontent into social unrest.
