Premier Wen leaves for East Asian leaders' meetings

BEIJING - Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao left Beijing Thursday morning for Hanoi, Vietnam, to attend a series of meetings between East Asian leaders from Oct 29 to 30.

At the invitation of Vietnamese Prime Minister Nguyen Tan Dung, Wen will attend the 13th summit between China and the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN); the 13th summit between ASEAN, China, Japan and the Republic of Korea (ROK); and the fifth East Asia Summit.

Wen will also attend a meeting with the leaders of Japan and the ROK.

The premier's entourage includes: Chinese Foreign Minister Yang Jiechi; Director of the National Development and Reform Commission Zhang Ping; Minister of Finance Xie Xuren; Minister of Commerce Chen Deming; Director of the Research Office of the State Council Xie Fuzhan; Chinese Ambassador to ASEAN Tong Xiaoling; Vice Secretary-General of the State Council and Director of the Premier's Office Qiu Xiaoxiong; and Assistant Foreign Minister Hu Zhengyue.
