Police hunt for gunman after downtown shooting death

CHANGSHA - Police in central China's Hunan Province are hunting for a man who was suspected of shooting a local businessman to death Monday morning.

The dead, a trade company executive surnamed Xiao, was shot dead at 8:20 am in a commercial area in Yuhua District of the provincial capital Changsha, police and publicity officials confirmed.

Police quoted a witness as saying that the suspect fled the scene "before people realized what was going on".

The city's public security bureau has sent dozens of policemen to chase the suspect.
