The Quality and Technical Supervision Administration of Guangxi Zhuang autonomous region in Southwest China launched a food safety overhaul of 19 local camellia oil producers last month, which found that the product samples of two firms contained up to more than two times of the amount of benzoapyrene allowed by the national standards, said Jin Dong, an official with the administration's food production department.

The companies, namely Molaoye Food Co Ltd and Jinchawang Oil Co Ltd, have been trying to recall substandard products.
