BEIJING -- More than 4,600 people involved in mafia-style crimes have received severe punishment ranging from five years' imprisonment to death penalty in the four and a half years ending June, according to statistics released from China's Supreme People's Court (SPC) Friday.
China's courts had received more than 1,700 mafia-gang cases in the period, and completed nearly 1,100 of them which involved 9,930 criminals, SPC said in a statement.
