HEFEI -- Six people were killed in an explosion Friday in a villagers' committee office in east China's Anhui Province, local authorities said.
The blast happened when committee staff were mediating a civil dispute in the office in Yongqiao District, Suzhou City, said a spokesman with the city's police department.
Police believe someone had set off explosives, said the spokesman.
The powerful blast also caused multiple injuries, but it was not immediately known how many people were injured.
