A delegation of 12 foreign diplomats from eight embassies in China, including Ethiopian Ambassador Hailekiros Gessesse, began a four-day cultural visit to Henan province on Monday.

The delegation, at the invitation of the State Administration of Cultural Heritage (SACH), spent the first day visiting the Shaolin Temple and other historical monuments in Dengfeng that were jointly listed as a UNESCO World Heritage on August 1.

The delegation will visit two other world heritage sites in the province — the Longmen Grotto in Luoyang and the Yin Ruins in Anyang — on Tuesday and Wednesday.

SACH has invited foreign diplomats based in China for an annual visit to the country’s world heritage sites since 2005 in a bid to promote mutual cultural understanding.
