The 119 tourist attractions monitored by the country's travel authorities posted a 15.91 percent rise year-on-year in combined tourist arrivals to more than 22.36 million between October 1 and 7, known as the  "Golden Week," an online statement of the National Tourism Administration said Thursday.

Business income from these sites totaled some 1.13 billion yuan ($168.8 million), up 26.71 percent from one year ago, according to the statement.

The statement also said the railways, airlines and roads were bracing for a peak in return trips Thursday, the last day of the holiday, and so far, no large-scale stranding of travelers had been reported.
