The fair, first of its kind in Chongqing, provided more than 30 kinds of jobs with 900 openings from 50 companies, and 413 inmates awaiting release have secured jobs before leaving prison, chinanews.com.cn reported.

It was a chance for companies to handpick their employees and inmates to learn more about the current social working situation. It was a nice collaboration between prisons and companies, said Liu Xuejin, deputy mayor of Chongqing.

Also, according to Liu, Chongqing established the country’s first occupational skills testing center for prisons last year, where inmates can learn work skills and 99 percent of them can acquire certificates after training.
