Man admits to killing 4, injuring 2 in NE China

HARBIN -- A man has admitted to killing four people and injuring two others at an old people's home in northeast China's Heilongjiang Province early Friday, local authorities said Sunday.

Zhou Zhiyi, 50, told police that after drinking some alcohol, he attacked five people in their rooms with a knife and a hammer, killing three and injuring two.

Zhou then set the three bodies on fire. The smoke from the fire choked another woman to death.

Located in Nancha District, Yichun City, the old people's home was reported ablaze at 4:40 a.m. Friday.Two people were rescued and four bodies were recovered from the burning building before the fire was extinguished at 6:30 a.m.

Zhou said he was poorly treated by the victims and that they had not paid him back money they had borrowed from him.

Police are still investigating the case.
