BEIJING -- Chinese Vice Premier Wang Qishan here on Thursday said China hoped Britain would expand exports of high-tech products to China.

He made the remarks when meeting with Prince Andrew of Britain, who is also the United Kingdom's Special Representative for International Trade and Investment.

Wang said China and Britain should continue to target stronger cooperation in areas such as economy and trade, investment, finance and infrastructure.

He also said new international economic rules and standards must be pushed for so developing countries could have a fair say in the world.

Prince Andrew said Britain will make joint efforts with China to deepen cooperation in all areas.

Prince Andrew arrived in Beijing after his tour to Shanghai.

During an interview with Xinhua Wednesday in Shanghai, Prince Andrew said he thought there was a chance the UK could bring more high technology to the Chinese market, as China was readjusting its trading structure by importing more high-tech, environmentally-friendly and high value-added products.
