LANZHOU - Authorities in northwest China's Gansu Province confirmed 83 children had been sickened at a local kindergarten.
The incident occurred 3:30 p.m. Friday at Lantai Kindergarten in Lanzhou, the provincial capital, said Gansu provincial health department.
The sickened children developed symptoms including stomach distress, diarrhea, vomit and fever. A panel of experts ruled out the possibility of food poisoning, but they said the incident could be related to yoghourt provided at the kindergarten early on Friday afternoon.
All of the sickened children were hospitalized. Twenty-one of the sickened children were discharged from hospital after treatment.
The incident is under further investigation.
