The well-known Huashan Mountain in Northwest China’s Shaanxi province and the adjacent scenic area were closed after the landslide that claimed two lives and blocked the eastern highway, xinhuanet.com reported on Aug 25.
The rain-triggered landslide held up about 200 visitors in the scenic area on Tuesday afternoon, but all of them made it out safe. But two highway workers were buried by the mud while guiding cars and visitors out.
Huashan Mountain is expected to reopen when the highway is cleared of all the stones and mud on Wednesday. A thorough inspection of the landslide is needed.
