BEIJING - Chinese consumers are being offered the chance to show their support for their favorite brands of Islamic foods.
The on-line poll, initiated Sunday on sina.com, msb.com and musilin.net.cn., asks consumers to choose the most trusted brands from 30 producers before voting ends on September 15.

"The poll will draw more attention to the quality of Islamic food, which will promote the development of China's Islamic food industry," said Zhang Guanglin, deputy director of the Islamic Association of China.
"We should make sure that all the foods are produced in accordance with Islamic teachings and the country's ethnic and religious policies," Zhang said.
Food safety and quality has become a major concern in China after a series of food contamination cases were reported across the country.
