The lucky person with the welfare lottery ticket worth 10 million yuan failed to show up by the deadline in Suzhou city, East China’s Jiangsu province, making it the largest award not to be claimed in China, Yangtse Evening Post reported on Aug 16.

The 10 million yuan will be added back into the welfare lottery fund, which aims to promote public welfare projects in China, according to Jiang Zhuoping, deputy director of Welfare Lottery Distribution Center in Jiangsu.

Several weeks after no one came forward to claim the award, newspapers released the lottery information many times to remind people to check their tickets. People guess that the winner may be an inexperienced lottery player.
