The renconstruction work has started in Zhouqu, Gansu province, hit by deadly landslides on Aug 8.
The government will provide the food, clothing and quilts for residents during the first 15 days. Every survivor will get 10 yuan and a half kilogram of food a day for three months. The rebulding of the collapsed houses will be finished by next June at the latest.
Local authorities found nine potential geological danger sites around the county seat, threatening 30,000 residents, which needs to be considered during the renconstruction work. The government will decide whether to rebuild on the site, after a scientific investigation.
After the renconstruction, the capability to withstand disasters in Zhouqu will be raised to a level that can withstand disasters for hundreds of years.
