A new regulation offering more free services to the disabled on public transportation was approved by the 17th Session of the Standing Committee of the 11th Shanxi Provincial People's Congress, and will take effort on Oct 1, cnr.cn reported Tuesday.
The new regulation, revised on the basis of the old one, which is 18 years old, includes some new measures affecting the daily lives of the disabled, such as political rights, rehabilitation, education and training, employment, and social security.
Among the measures, disabled people in the province can enjoy more preferential policies with their courtesy cards, such as taking the bus for free along with their seeing eye dogs or other supportive instruments. In addition, Braille translations and sign-language interpreters will be offered.
