Steady, fast economic growth remains China's priority

BEIJING - Ensuring steady and relatively fast economic growth remains the main task for China in the second half of the year, top Chinese political advisor Jia Qinglin said here Monday.

Jia, chairman of the National Committee of the Chinese People's Political Consultative Conference (CPPCC), made the remarks when meeting  members of the China Synergy Program for Outstanding Youth and the Management Leadership Training Program for the New Century.

He said China continued to tackle the international financial crisis during the first half of the year while accelerating the transformation of the economic development pattern.

Jia expressed confidence that all hardships will be overcome when domestic and overseas Chinese people join hands.

Jia also urged members of the two programs to contribute to the great cause of the reunification of the Chinese motherland.
