The ministry told cultural administrative agencies around China, in a written notice, to strengthen online supervision, and if there is vulgar content in online game promotions, the administrative agencies should inform websites to immediately delete them.

Further, appropriate punishment should be imposed in cases of serious violation of laws, the notice said.

The notice was issued to end the spreading practice of some online gaming companies who took advantage of some women involved in scandals of pornographic pictures to promote their games.
