The new collective contract for female employees in Hubei says for the first time that women have the right to take one or two days off from work if they suffer during their menstrual periods, reported the Changjiang Times.

The sample contract, provided by government department to guide workplace relations in the province, lists a series of regulations to better protect pregnant women and those who are breastfeeding.

After the 28th week of pregnancy, a mother-to-be may have one more hour for rest and employers may not require her to work overtime.

Mothers with a baby less than one year old have two 30-minute breaks for feeding their babies.

The contract was enacted jointly by the provincial Department of Human Resources and Social Security, provincial Labor Union and provincial Enterprise Federation.
