HOHHOT - Five people died Monday afternoon after a car collided head-on with a coach in north China's Inner Mongolia Autonomous Region, said local authorities.

The accident happened around 3:40 p.m. in Xinghe County of Ulanqab City. Three men and two women in the car died at the scene, said a spokesman with the regional work safety bureau.

An initial investigation showed the coach was en route from Hohhot, the regional capital, to a graphite mine in Xinghe County.
