House fire kills 3, injures 2 in Shanghai

SHANGHAI - Three people lost their lives, including a 20-month-old baby, and two others were injured in a house fire early Thursday in East China's Shanghai municipality, police said.

The wood-and-brick house caught on fire at around 1 am in Liantang town in Qingpu district, said Jin Bin, an officer with the district's public security bureau.

The injured were rushed to the hospital.

The fire was put out an hour later. Fire fighters are still investigating the cause of the accident.
