With the last 900-ton box girder put on Beijing Super Large Bridge on June 20, 2010, the construction beneath the rail line of Beijing-Shanghai express rail has ended and moves to the next phase of paving ballastless track slabs, Beijing Daily reported Monday.

So far, the overall construction of the 1,318-kilometer express rail is well under way. It is estimated that the pavement of ballastless track slabs will be finished by November 15.

A four-month adjustment, starting from May 1 next year, will assure the express rail's operation before 2012, when it was scheduled to open.
