Animation projects awarded $3.1 million

The State Administration of Radio, Film and Television (SARFT) awarded a total of 21.1 million yuan ($3.1 million) for 185 completed animation projects, Beijing Business Today reported on Monday.

Monkey King, produced by CCTV Animation Ltd, and Three Kingdoms, by Beijing Glorious Animation Co, received last year's top prize, winning 800,000 yuan each.

SARFT's annual prize, awarded since 2005, aims to boost the nation's animation industry. It favors domestic original works and established special funds for those projects last year.
