Man detained for killing 4 family members, 1 tenant

SHENYANG - A man was detained for allegedly killing four family members and one tenant in Northeast China's Liaoning province Wednesday, local police said.

The 32-year-old man surnamed Xiao allegedly beat his 62-year-old father, 59-year-old mother, 29-year-old wife, 8-year-old daughter and a 35-year-old female tenant surnamed Ge to death with a club at around 3 am in Liaozhong county in the provincial capital of Shenyang.

The mother died in hospital while the other four died at the scene.

The drunken Xiao was detained at around 6 am by police.

Xiao is said to be deeply in debt.

Police are investigating the case.
