Two school children die after wall collapses

NANNING - Two pupils were killed and another 18 injured after a retaining wall on campus collapsed in Bobai County, southwest China's Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region Wednesday, county officials said.

The accident happened at around 3:40 p.m. at Guihua Village Primary School in Bobai when a group of pupils were having classes on the school's play ground, a spokesman with the county government said.

The retaining wall under construction suddenly collapsed, injuring 20 pupils, the spokesman said, adding that the injured were rushed to hospital where two died later.

The cause of the accident is under investigation.
