Indian public universities rejected the application of a young Chinese student on the grounds that they thought Chinese post-90s students were too dependent on their families, which may bring too much trouble to the school, the Jiangnan Times reported Wednesday.
The term "China one" refers to the only child in Chinese families who were born in the 1980s and 1990s.
A recent case involved a Chinese mother trying to hire a maid for her child while studying in India. The Indian university that the child applied to was not happy with this request, saying one reason that they didn't want Chinese international students was their inability to live on their own. One famous Indian university clearly stated, "'China one' are not welcome, and we don't want trouble!" the report says.
