BEIJING - The Beijing Capital International Airport said Monday flights in and out of the airport had not been affected by the sandstorm.

Beijing and much of eastern China were hit by dust and sand Monday, two days after the capital was plagued by the first severe sandstorm this spring on Saturday.

The airport told Xinhua no flight had been delayed by the standstorm, and it continued to operate uninterrupted.

Monday's visibility was around 1,000 meters, far beyond the limit of 500 meters set by the airport, under which takeoff and landing are forbidden.
