Nan Jing: A Nanjing resident who went for a hair curled and ended up with burns to her head and ear is suing the salon, according to sina.com.

The woman surnamed Li spent 2,000 yuan ($292) for the beauty services in Xiu Ke salon in Nanjing, capital of south Chian's Jiangsu province on January 8, 2010, but ended up with a severe injury.

The damage, believed to be caused by a faulty hairdryer, left the woman with second-degree burns to her head and third-degree burns to her right ear, according to a diagnosis from a local hospital.

Li is suing the salon for one million yuan compensation. The salon has since apologized and contacted the product manufacturer for a recall.

Both sides are still locked in negotiation regarding the compensation and medical costs.
