China believed, with concerted efforts from both sides, they could make new achievements in bilateral relations, and contribute to world peace, stability and prosperity, said Xu.

He said this year 2009 was of great significance in the history of China-DPRK relations, as it marked the 60th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic ties and the China-DPRK Friendship Year.

The traditional friendship between China and the DPRK was the common wealth of the two peoples, Xu said, noting China's Communist Party, army and government always attached great importance to developing friendship and cooperation.

Xu said China was willing to promote military exchanges and cooperation with the DPRK.

The DPRK would make unswerving efforts to further the two countries' ties, no matter how situations may change, said Pak, who led the visiting delegation of 10 members.

The DPRK paid great attention to developing bilateral ties with China, said Pak.

The two countries were obliged to carry forward the traditional friendship forged by older generation revolutionaries, he said.

Pak will end the five-day visit on September 26. He is also scheduled to visit the business hub of Shanghai.
