China Center for Comparative Politics & Economics (CCCPE), one of the research institutes affiliated with the Central Compilation and Translation Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China, marked its ten-year anniversary over the weekend.

The center is a think tank that devotes to academic research and policy studies. It aims at contributing to the policy-making in the central government, and to the modernization of China.

According to Yu Keping, deputy director of bureau, CCCPE’s research fields include: political philosophy, comparative politics, comparative economics, Chinese politics, development economics, and political sociology etc. It has a number of leading scholars in these fields. Their works on the following issues have been widely acknowledged across the world: democracy, good governance, globalization, civil society, local governance, government innovations, anti-corruption, ecological civilization, social capital, and risk society etc.

CCCPE faculties undertook considerable number of policy study projects and academic research projects that have had great impact, e.g. “The Research on and Awards Granting to Innovations and Excellence in Chinese Local Governance”, “National Governance Assessment Framework for China”, “An Urban-Rural Integration Approach to Development”, “Globalization and State Sovereignty”, “The Institutional Environment for the Civil Society in China”, and “The Social Management System Reform” etc.

CCCPE works closely with domestic and international partners, including the decision-making bodies in the central government, institutes such as the Central Party School and the Chinese Academy of Social Sciences, domestic universities like Peking University and Tsinghua University, international organizations such as the UNDP, the EU, and Ford Foundation, and foreign universities like Harvard University, St. Petersburg University, Nottingham University, and Duisburg University.

CCCPE also participates in Central Compilation and Translation Bureau’s visiting scholar program and post-doctoral research program. It hosts senior visiting scholars and post-doctoral researchers across the world. Its website is: www.chinainnovations.org.
