Surgeons at a local hospital in Shanghai gave a patient they were supposed to operate on an anesthetic injection but "forgot" to perform the surgery recently.

Cao Longbao, who was to undergo a surgery to get three polypi removed from his intestines, was wheeled into the operation theater, where he lay unconscious for almost an hour before a nurse wheeled him back to his ward, thinking the surgery was over.

Cao told the nurse he wasn't feeling any different "post-surgery".

As Cao was preparing to leave the hospital the next day, surgeons rushed to his ward and told him they had forgotten to operate on him.

The surgery was successfully performed a day later.
