May quake death toll remains unchanged at 69,226

Updated: 2008-09-01 19:26 The statement said 430,924 tonnes of grain and 9,886 tonnes of edible oil have been allocated to the quake zones from central reserves as of Sunday. It also said that 128,062 of the 138,960 businesses damaged had reopened. By Monday noon, 5,315 large-scale enterprises with annual revenue above 5 million yuan had resumed operation. Production at another 330 companies of the same scale was still suspended, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology said. Of the 48,276 km of ruptured water supply pipelines, 45,166 km had been restored as of Monday noon, according to the statement. As of Monday noon, 185,881 survivors had found jobs outside of the area, while another 685,281 were employed in their home towns. |
