3 Chinese killed in Kenyan traffic accident

The Chinese embassy in Kenya has confirmed that three Chinese people on a business trip and their local driver have been killed and three others were injured in a traffic accident in western Kenya on Sunday.

One of the Chinese passengers and the driver were killed on the spot. The two others died on their way to hospital.

The injured travelers, one of whom was critically wounded, have been reported to be out of danger after receiving treatment at a local hospital.

The accident happened at around 9:30 am local time in Rift Valley Province, about 130 kilometers from the Kenyan capital of Nairobi, the Xinhua News Agency reported. The accident was a rear-end collision involving a microbus of the business delegation and a truck parked on the roadside.

Officials with the Chinese embassy in Kenya have asked the local police to launch an investigation into the accident and requested the Kenyan side to assist in caring for the injured and dealing with the aftermath.
