A pet dog in Nanchang, Jiangxi Province, smelled its way back to its owner on Tuesday, one month after it was stolen and sold.

The owner Huang said she purchased the pure breed in Beijing for 5,000 yuan ($658), three years ago. She cherished it and carried it around every day, even when she was on business. But a month ago, thieves broke into Huang's home and carted away the dog and also some jewels.

On Tuesday, the dog ran up to Huang near a railway station, with a woman in hot pursuit. She claimed to be the dog's owner, but when questioned by police, admitted that she knew the dog was stolen and that she had bought it at a low price recently.
