A young man immediately continued his taxi ride after throwing money out the taxi window in downtown Nanjing. It was said that he was trying to get away from family members chasing him.

An onlooker said that two men blocked the taxi at 10 am Saturday. Suddenly the young man in the taxi opened the rear window and threw a pile of money into the air. Pedestrians started fighting for the money, creating chaos while the taxi sped away.

One of the two men, claiming to be the father of the young man, said his son took 150,000 yuan ($19,737) without permission. By 8 pm, about 9,000 yuan, had been recovered. Police are waiting for the owner to claim the cash.
