Squirrels earn favor by licking fan clean

It is generally known that squirrels sneak into farmers' houses to eat food. But a group of squirrels living at the foot of Tianmu Mountain in Lin'an, Zhejiang, has a unique hobby: They clean a stove exhaust fan for a farmer.

One early morning last week, Tong, hearing unusual sounds again in the kitchen, opened the door and saw a group of squirrels licking the exhaustfan. Tong suddenly realized why the machine, though in use for several months, remained so clean. The squirrels never touched food Tong had deliberately put out. Now the squirrels come and go as they please, even in the daytime.
