With the Spring Festival just around the corner, the pet-care industry is booming in Xi'an, capital of Northwest China's Shaanxi Province.

Dai, a local resident, presents a typical example of the pet-care trend. She is planning a 15-day trip to see her parents in North China's Hebei Province. Unable to bring the family dog with her, she plans to board her pet at one of the city's pet-care shops.

The manager of a local pet-care shop said he had received 34 bookings for pet-care and boarding. He said he could charge 30 to 80 yuan ($3.75 to 10) per day for such services, depending on the breed.
