Changsha teens eager to alter appearance (China Daily) Updated: 2006-07-12 09:26
College and high school students have been queuing up for plastic surgery in
Changsha, Hunan Province, since the start of the summer holiday,
the Sanxiang Metropolis Daily reported.
The most popular operations are alterations to the eyelids, nose and
cheekbones.
Most of their parents have no problem with their offspring going under the
knife, believing that a good appearance will bring confidence and many
advantages to their children in the future.
The simplest eyelid operation, which makes a single eyelid into a double
eyelid, costs 3,200 yuan (US$395). A girl who has just passed the national
college entrance examination spent 150,000 yuan (US$18,500) on an operation that
gave her a completely new face last week.
