Angolan President Jose Eduardo dos Santos will visit China later this year for a summit, according to a government statement, following a visit to the country by Chinese Premier Wen Jiabao.

Angola said its president accepted a Chinese invitation to participate in a Sino-African Cooperation Summit in November.

Wen visited Angola on Tuesday as part of a seven-nation tour that has also included stops in Egypt, Ghana, Republic of Congo and South Africa.

Angola and China have agreed to foster closer economic and cultural ties and Beijing has also authorized the opening of an Angolan consulate in Macau, according to the statement from Wednesday.

In Angola, which is recovering from a two-decade civil war that ended in 2002, Wen announced US$2 billion (euro1.6 billion) in new credits to support reconstruction.
