A Hong Kong radio station came under fire Monday for posting a poll on its
Web site asking users to pick the female stars they most want to sexually
harass.
Commercial Radio has removed the question which some viewers found offensive,
replacing it with a question asking users which female star they find sexiest,
but hasn't commented.
The poll, posted on the Web site of Commercial Radio's "So Fab" show,
surveyed users on the topic of "the Hong Kong female performing artist I want to
sexually harass the most," according to an image of the site published in Hong
Kong's Apple Daily newspaper Sunday.
Choices included the pop duo Twins and singers Kelly Chen, Miriam Yeung,
Denise Ho and Vivian Chow, as well as actress Karena Lam.
The same Web site viewed Monday showed the topic had been changed to "the
Hong Kong female performing artist I find sexiest."
"It's a big insult to women and a big blow to victims of sexual harassment,"
Ng Wai-ching, a campaigner against sexual abuse, told reporters Monday.
Vicky Yu, a staff member who answered the phone at Commercial Radio's public
relations department, said the station had no immediate comment.
Spokeswoman Amy Tam at the Hong Kong government's commerce bureau, which
oversees the Broadcasting Authority, said officials are tallying up the number
of complaints against the poll.
