Workers clear away rubbish in the water one day before the
demolition of the last cofferdam at Three Gorges Dam in Yichang, China's Hubei
province, June 5, 2006. Workers are to blow up the massive temporary cofferdam
in what state media called the 'world's toughest demolition job.' Some 192 tons
of dynamite is being laid inside the 140-meter-high (153-foot-high) protective
cofferdam so that it can be blown up on Tuesday. The cofferdam has been used
since 2003 to hold water back during construction of the main wall of the Three
Gorges [AP]
