An ordinary farmer's courtyard in Dandong City, Liaoning Province, apparently was the staging area for human bodies that were sold abroad as specimens.

On the afternoon of last Tuesday, several police wagons came to Xiaogushan Village of the city. Police officers surrounded the courtyard, and located human bodies, according to an Oriental Morning Post report yesterday.

The courtyard used to be a yard raising cows, the courtyard owner said. He stopped his business later, and rented out the courtyard to a foreign-funded company after the Spring Festival this year.

The company originally claimed they would set up a plant to produce artistic handicrafts, the courtyard owner said.

The company increased the height of the boundary wall, and topped the wall with wire netting. The owner said he once wanted to enter the yard to have a look at how the tenants had changed the houses, but the renters declined.

Villages noticed a temperature-preservation vehicle often went in and out the plant, but never any handicrafts.

The police previously suspected the plant of processing drugs. Officers searched for drugs, but discovered human bodies instead.
